so last night just like everyone else here in america we put on false identities and hit up the denver nightlife...its nearly a tradition now, i don't think i've missed a halloween in denver since i turned 21 and that seems long ago even if it isn't...the other day im trying to think of a costume, i like to be unique, and i always pull it off, whether its a twist of a traditional costume or something completely new...and it always mocks something or someone in a fun, holiday type of way...so as im thinking i realized i was going to be homeless at the end of the month and jobless on top of that and then it hit me...im going to be a bum since my life fit the character...
jeremy ended up needing a costume too and i shared my idea, we decided to travel in pair as many bums do...so i ripped up and old pair of jeans and white t-shirt, put on my old army coat and tore up boots with a classic bum hat...borrowed a shopping cart and filled it with cans, ramen noodles, clothes, etc...wrote me a sign on some cardboard, "i wont lie, need money for beer" and "too **** lazy to work, help a homeless vet thanks" and headed out on the town stopping by the liquor store for a colt 45 40 ouncer brown bag and all...while at the first bar we went outside to wait for a friend, sat down in an alley and sooner than later we had $4 in change and two 24oz. beers because we punked a guy good and he respected it by bringing us back a couple cans...
after we started getting cold we quit that gig and eventually headed downtown...the shopping cart wouldnt fit in the taxi so we let everyone else pay for their ride and we plummeted down 17th street in the cart switching turns pushing the other one...at one point the sidewalk ended and i had to make a suicide run through the street pushing jeremy and running as fast as my drinking body was able...we ended up only 5 minutes or so behind the cab and tied up the cart outside the bar...its probably still there today.
